Website Planning Team: Early Childhood Planning Team (ECPT), a subcommittee of CCF
The UnionCountyKids.org website was put together by the 2000-2001 ECPT as a way to raise community awareness of services and programs for kids and families in Union County. The original focus was to produce a resource to specifically aid those families with children ages 0-8 years, along with the service providers of those families. Members of the ECPT included:
- Union County Commission on Children & Families board members
- Eastern Oregon University Child Psychology faculty
- Oregon Health Sciences University School of Nursing at EOU faculty
- Healthy Start Program staff
- Eastern Oregon Head Start Program staff
- Union County Center for Human Development team members
- Child Care Resource & Referral staff
- Department of Human Services Child Welfare staff
- Local school district faculty and administrators
- Union-Baker Educational Service District staff
The UnionCountyKids.org site was launched in 2001 and has been continuously active since that time. In 2006, the ECPT voted to participate in the EONI Community Calendar as a contributor and web host. A page and link for the ComCal was added in May 2006 and the link was activated in June of that same year. This addition allows website visitors to access a Union County family-friendly Calendar of Events and has also afforded family service providers an avenue to connect and promote cross-training and training opportunities in Northeast Oregon. In the spring of 2007, the ECPT voted to expand the website’s focus to include services and resources for families with children 0-18.
